Rockets down Lac qui Parle Valley

LQPV Eagles came into Rockford at 3 – 6 overall (a single A team from the far western part of the state, on an exchange agreement – we went there last year). A good team, missing a couple of key players. The Eagles kept the game close against the 8 – 0 Rockets behind some outstanding 3 point shooting by senior forward Matthew Arndt (#23).

But the Rockets stepped up defense in the 2nd half guided Rockford to a walk away 65 – 49 victory taking them to 9 – 0 on the season.

Next up:

  • Tue Jan 7 HOME vs Annandale (3 – 3) (5:30p Boys Varsity Start, Girls to follow)
  • Thu Jan 10 HOME vs Dassel-Cokato (4 – 5) (5:30p Boys Varsity Start, Girls to follow)
  • Tue Jan 14 @ Glencoe (8 – 2) (7:15p start)
  • Thu Jan 16 @ Howard Lake (5 – 5) (7:15p start)

At this point in the season, Rockford is in the top 10 in class AA (#7 of 123 teams) and just outside the top 50 overall in the state (#53 or 413 teams). In AA above Rockford right now are (1) Jackson County Central, (2) Cannon Falls, (3) Esko, (4) Blake, (5) Waseca, (6) Lake City… and then nipping at their heels (8) Albany, (9) Redwood Valley, (10) Perham.

Great start Rockets, keep the nose to the grindstone and keep it rolling!
