Rockford makes it 2 in a row taking down Glencoe

In what may have been their best all around game this season, the Rockets held on to defeat the Glencoe/Silver Lake Panthers 74-72.

Rockets move to 15-7 on the season, 6-2 in section play and 7-5 in the conference, while Glencoe falls to 18-5 overall, 4-1 in their section (2AA) but still holds a commanding lead in the conference at 11-2.

Next up for the Rockets:

  • Tues 2/18 Home vs Howard Lake 5:30pm Boys Varsity game time
  • Thur 2/20 Away at Litchfield (sorry but I have not heard the game time on this one… it is the make up game from earlier in the season)
  • Fri 2/21 Home vs Litchfield (yup, back to back nights)… Boys Varsity game time 7pm
  • Thu 2/27 Home vs Norwood Young America / Central… 7pm Boys Varsity

And… that’s it for the regular season!

5AA Section Playoff seeding takes place March 1st based on QRF Value (strength of schedule and Win/Loss record in Section, and overall taken into consideration)

Subject to change, but at this time…

  1. Blake (137.8)
  2. Mpls North (124.9)
  3. SW Christian (124.2)
  4. Breck (119.6)
  5. Hiawatha Collegiate (106.4)
  6. Jordan (102.8)
  7. ROCKFORD (95.3)
  8. Holy Family (84.8)
  9. Watertown (80.7)
  10. Maranatha (72.4)
  11. Howard Lake (63.1)

Matchups per MSHSL should be:

  • Sub Sections 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 get a Bye (March 4th games), 12 vs 13, 11 vs 14, 10 vs 15, 9 vs 16
  • Sections Round 1 – (1,2,3,4 get a Bye) (March 6th games) 8 vs 9/16 winner, 5 vs 12/13 winner, 6 vs 11/14 winner, 7 vs 10/15 winner
  • Sections Round 2 – 1 vs 8/9/16, 4 vs 5/12/13, 3 vs 5/11/15, 2 vs 7/10/15 (games on March 8th)
  • Section Semis (final 4) played at Minneahaha Academy on March 11th.
  • Section Finals March 14th at Augsburg University – Winner Advances to State Tournament
  • STATE – typically a redraw / reseeding for positioning from the 8 sections. Round 1 finds 1 vs 8 and 5 vs 4 at Williams Arena on March 18th. 7 vs 2 and 6 vs 3 at Target Center on March 18th.
  • STATE Round 2 – advancing winners play at Williams Arena on March 21.
  • STATE FINAL – is played at Williams Arena this year on March 22, 3rd place game placed at Concordia University also on March 22.

So there it is, that’s the last “possibilities” for the season. Where we fall… entirely up to how the team finishes, our only remaining SECTION game is against Howard Lake, but ALL GAMES COUNT at least a bit when seeding is via QRF (which ours is).
