Rockets cage the cubs from Kimball

The Kimball Cubs arrived in Rockford sporting a very nice 8-3 record on the season and the match-up with the Rockets looked to be a tight affair. But, the Cubs stepped into a buzz-saw. Rockford knocked down 12 – 3 pointers and walked away with a 70 – 40 victory.

Rockets moved to 12 – 4 overall, remaining 4-3 in the conference and 4-2 in the section.

Next weeks games:

  • Tuesday 1/28 @ Norwood – Young America, game time is 7pm. NYA is currently 8 – 5 on the year, ranked #44 in AA and 151 overall in the state. Wins over DC, HLWW and Litchfield and losses to Annandale, Glencoe and Watertown.
  • Saturday 2/1 @ Hibbing (yes… we’re going North) – note, the varsity game is played at Lincoln Elementary School in Hibbing, game time is slotted for 2:00pm. Hibbing is a AAA school on the Iron Range sitting currently at 10-6 on the season, ranked #18 in AAA and 63 overall in the state. They have been on a losing streak lately to our 5AA brethren dropping games to Hiawatha Collegiate (by 12) and Blake (by 6). But don’t discount them at all, this is a very good squad. Should be a fun road-trip.

Also played this evening was the 2024-2025 Rockford Alumni game, had around 15 former Rockford basketball players make it to this years game, ranging in graduation years from 1993 to 2023. A little grayer, a little more “thickness” for some, but the skills and desire are still there and a good time was had by all. No major injuries incurred so that is always a good thing too. Thanks go out to I believe Nathan Maher for organizing, and Troy Shulze, Brock Deering, Cole Tauber and Tyler Maher for keeping things organized onsite!
